As Operational Manager at Ahlers, you will be part of an operational team working on global projects. Ahlers offers her customers logistics solutions beyond bringing goods from supplier to recipient. We manage the supply chain needs in all geographical corners, which means that you will manage and/or coordinate with your partners and colleagues the transport, customs clearance, warehousing, order to cash, reporting, and other activities necessary for the project of your customers.

Key functional duties

  • To manage the operational activities of varying international logistics projects. This includes for example transport, customs clearance, warehousing, order to cash, and reporting;
  • To work in a global team and take responsibility for the performance of your assigned activities within the supply chain;
  • To communicate with our customers and coordinate operational details necessary for the efficient performance of operational activities
  • To coordinate third-party suppliers (our partners) and manage their performance within the project;
  • To manage the costs of the operational activities, understand the market level, and focus on optimization;
  • To work with multiple Transport Management Systems and Accounting Programs;
  • To prepare transport documents, check provided administration before customs clearance, create performance reports, and to calculate and report on results;
  • To protect Ahlers’ compliance with international and local regulations in different countries and economic trade areas.

Key Competencies

  • Minimum experience of 3 years as an operational manager or similar function in the international logistics industry;
  • Knowledge of standards on transportation conditions and cargo packing, loading/unloading regulations, norms of weight and dimensional control, routing, and docking in multimodal transport;
  • Knowledge of general customs regulations, able to manage compliant customs clearance with specialists and professionally communicate with customers to obtain necessary details;
  • Experience in relationship management with partners and customers;
  • Expertise in obtaining, filtering, and analyzing massive data from different sources;

Specific Skills

  • Experienced MS office user
  • Experienced TMS user (Knowledge Logismart and/or Alaska is a plus)
  • Experienced Trade/Accounting program user (Knowledge Finvalda is a plus)
  • Knowledge of English at the Upper-Intermediate level (B1 or higher)
  • Knowledge of Russian at the Upper-Intermediate level (B1 or higher)
  • Knowledge of Lithuanian is a plus
